Göteborgs Konsthall at Slakthuset
Göteborgs Konsthall at Slakthuset will be more than twice the size of its previous space. The premises encompass a total of 1742 square metres and, in addition to exhibition areas, will also include a workshop space, reception, shop, lounge, and spaces for meetings and activities.
The new location and venue will offer improved conditions for the art, visitors and operations.

Experience Contemporary Art
At Slakthuset, visitors will be able to engage with contemporary art of both national and international significance in a variety of ways. You’ll have the opportunity to discover exciting new artistic voices – from Sweden and around the world. Artists will be given space to realise new productions, ideas, and visions.
We focus on visitor experiences when arranging activities, with opportunities for deeper engagement and new perspectives. Whether on your own or together with others, you can explore different artistic expressions through hands-on creativity in our studio.

Taking Art New Places
At Slakthuset, contemporary exhibitions will interact with exploratory artistic processes, alongside an expanded programme of educational activities, talks, workshops, digital and physical art walks, and performances.
The relocation of Göteborgs Konsthall to Slakthuset means that one of the city’s art institutions is moving beyond the city centre. Art needs to exist in multiple locations, and this move is an active step in ensuring that art and culture grow with the city and reach its residents. Slakthuset and Gamlestaden are undergoing an exciting transformation into a vibrant destination, attracting both locals and visitors.

About Slakthuset
Slakthuset is located in Gamlestaden, an area characterised by diverse industrial architecture. In the early 20th century, the building served as a municipal slaughterhouse. Today, a whole new part of Gothenburg is emerging within these former industrial premises.
Crafts, beer, coffee and wine are now produced here, and the restaurant scene continues to grow – making Slakthuset a dynamic and evolving hub for creativity and culture.
